Grain Science is a sophisticated synthesizer app for iOS that offers a wide range of features for musicians, soundscape artists, and SFX engineers. Unlike other granular synthesis apps, Grain Science combines traditional synthesis techniques with its powerful grain engine to create a hybrid synthesizer that is both intuitive and expansive.

One of the standout features of Grain Science is its ability to use built-in waveforms or import and record your own sounds, allowing users to create unique and original compositions. The app also offers a plethora of options for sound manipulation, with almost any parameter being customizable in complex ways.

The developers have optimized the app to provide two grain units per voice, giving users the ability to create morphing or modulated sounds. These sounds can then be sent through a customizable FX chain, which includes various types of distortion, filters, phaser, flanger, chorus, resonance, and echo effects.

In addition to its sound manipulation capabilities, Grain Science features an arpeggiator with chord and step-sequence modes. The app also supports Core MIDI, including Virtual MIDI, background audio, and "tap & twist" learning for setting up controls. With a customizable performance screen that includes XY Pads and wheels, users have full control over their performances.

Furthermore, Grain Science integrates well with other apps and platforms. It offers Dropbox, Twitter, and email integration for easy sharing or exporting of waveforms, recordings, and instrument designs (patches). Additionally, it now supports Audiobus to stream performances live to other compatible apps.
